Woodside Cleanup Day

The History Makers Community Service Project – Clean Up of Woodside Mill Baseball Field – Feb. 24, 2007

In the Heart of the Woodside Mill Village sits a baseball field with 100 years of history. The grandstand and dugouts, which were constructed in 1922, have gone into serious disrepair. The Woodside Wolves of 1938 were coached by Shoeless Joe Jackson and the history of this place is in danger. In the early spring of 2007 the History Makers group got together for a day of clean-up and restoration. The historic field was in much better shape when we finished up our work that day, but without the intervention of serious revitalization efforts, this field could be lost forever. The field is currently owned by the Greenville County Rec. District.
